Doctor Doom's Fearfall

The Attraction Overview

Themed to the Fantastic Four villain, this outdoor tower ride straps riders into seats around a central column and rockets them upward before an equally abrupt drop — giving two separate moments of weightlessness in one short ride cycle.

Unlike a conventional drop tower that only falls, Fearfall's upward launch is the real signature: riders get shot skyward hard enough to feel the negative-g 'pop' before gravity ever takes over.

The Story

Doctor Doom's Fearfall opened with the park on May 28, 1999, standing 199 feet tall and reaching speeds of roughly 40 mph during the launch and drop sequence.

Before the Clock Strikes

  • Rides run quickly once the queue is moving — good for a mid-afternoon energy break between longer coaster waits.
  • There's no dedicated single rider line, so plan around standby wait times.
  • The forceful upward launch surprises first-timers more than the drop itself — brace for that first jolt.
  • If you enjoy the airtime moment on Hulk's launch, Fearfall delivers a similar gut-drop sensation without the inversions.
