Dragon Racer's Rally

The Attraction Overview

Dragon Racer's Rally seats guests in individual dragon-shaped vehicles mounted on Gerstlauer Sky Fly arms — a ride system new to Universal parks — across two towers of 12 riders each. Each rider gets two joysticks that control their own seat's 'wings,' letting them tilt, pump, and, with the right technique, spin their seat through barrel rolls, similar in principle to pumping a playground swing side-to-side. Riders can also do nothing and simply glide for a calmer, scenery-focused flight.

Because the ride's intensity is almost entirely rider-controlled, no two rides are the same. It's themed as a dragon-trainer's flight over the cliffs of Isle of Berk, alongside two other land attractions: Hiccup's Wing Gliders and Fyre Drill.

The Story

Ride details and height requirements for the How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk land, including this attraction, were revealed in March 2024. As a new park attraction, it has no predecessor.

It opened May 22, 2025. One notable operational detail: Dragon Racer's Rally is the only major Epic Universe attraction that does not accept Universal Express Pass — an unusual exclusion for a headline ride.

Before the Clock Strikes

  • Universal Express Pass does NOT work here — budget standby wait time accordingly.
  • Spinning and rolling take technique (rhythmic side-to-side joystick pumping), not brute force — don't expect a big thrill on a first, tentative attempt.
  • Because intensity is self-controlled, it's a good option for mixed-comfort-level groups riding side by side.
  • 48 in. (122 cm) height minimum.
