The Attraction Overview
Fyre Drill is Isle of Berk's interactive water-blaster boat ride, built around the premise that Berk's villagers must train to extinguish accidental bonfires started by the island's fire-breathing dragons. Guests enroll in the fictional 'Fyre Skööl' and board eight-person boats, each equipped with individual water cannons that can shoot up to 28 feet.
As the boat drifts along the canal, riders aim at wooden, flame-painted targets to 'put out' fires and rack up a team score — with the near-certain outcome of getting thoroughly soaked, making it one of the wettest attractions Universal has ever built.
The Story
Fyre Drill opened with Epic Universe on May 22, 2025, as one of four attractions anchoring the Isle of Berk land alongside Hiccup's Wing Gliders, Dragon Racer's Rally, and the stage show The Untrainable Dragon.
Before the Clock Strikes
- Expect to get soaked — not just splashed. Ponchos or a change of clothes are worth planning for, especially earlier in the day if you don't want to walk around wet.
- It carries Express Pass access, which is worth using since it's popular on hot Orlando afternoons and lines move slowly loading eight riders per boat.
- There's no dedicated single-rider line, so solo riders should expect to wait with the standby queue like everyone else.
- Think of it as Universal's answer to Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges or Jurassic Park River Adventure's soak factor, but built around active water-cannon dueling rather than passive splashing — best saved for a warm-weather visit.
