The Attraction Overview

Widely regarded as one of the best story coasters in the world, Hagrid's sends riders through the Forbidden Forest aboard Hagrid's motorbike (front seat) or sidecar (back seat), weaving past creatures from the films across a sprawling, mostly outdoor course.

What sets it apart is pacing, not top speed: a record-setting seven separate launches (rather than one big lift hill) keep the momentum unpredictable, punctuated by a high-speed reverse section and a near-17-foot vertical drop that catches first-timers off guard.

The Story

Hagrid's opened June 13, 2019, manufactured by Intamin as a custom multi-launch coaster reaching a top speed of 50 mph across roughly a mile of track — at the time, the longest coaster in Orlando.

Before the Clock Strikes

• This is the toughest walk-up standby wait at Universal Orlando — virtual queue or very early rope-drop arrival is close to essential.
• A single rider line exists and moves quickly since the queue rarely fills the sidecar seats evenly.
• Expect an outdoor coaster with real wind and weather exposure — it's more physically intense than Forbidden Journey, closer in energy to VelociCoaster next door.
• The motorbike (front) seat has a lower handlebar restraint and slightly different feel than the sidecar — try both if you ride more than once.
