The Attraction Overview
Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast puts guests on a continuously moving walkway through a mock supervillain convention, arming them with E-Liminator X blasters to rack up points shooting at animated and physical targets along the way. It's designed as a stand-through experience rather than a seated ride, so there's no height minimum beyond being able to stand unassisted.
What makes it distinct is its scoring system, which syncs to the Universal Orlando app so riders can track and compare their blast scores after the fact — turning a single ride into an ongoing competition across a visit.
The Story
The attraction soft-opened in July 2023 and had its official grand opening on August 11, 2023, as the headlining ride of the newly built Illumination's Minion Land. It sits alongside Despicable Me Minion Mayhem as the land's two attractions.
Before the Clock Strikes
- There's no traditional single-rider line, but the moving-walkway format keeps the standby line flowing steadily even when it looks long.
- Children must be able to stand and hold the blaster on their own — carrying young children through the ride isn't permitted.
- Aim for moving and glowing targets for higher scores, and check your results in the Universal Orlando app afterward if you want to compare with your group.
- If you liked the shooting-game format of Men in Black Alien Attack, this is a lighter, walkway-based take on the same idea with a different franchise and scoring twist.
