The Attraction Overview
Ko'okiri Body Plunge is a trap-door speed slide built into the Krakatau volcano at the center of Volcano Bay. Riders stand on a floor panel that drops away beneath them, sending them down a 70-degree, 125-foot descent that lasts only a few seconds.
The slide's signature feature is its launch mechanism: instead of a traditional slide start, guests are held in place until the floor opens, creating a near-freefall sensation before they shoot out through the volcano's base and into the landing pool.
The Story
Ko'okiri Body Plunge opened with the rest of Volcano Bay on May 25, 2017, as one of the park's marquee thrill slides and one of the tallest body-plunge slides in Orlando.
Before the Clock Strikes
- Volcano Bay's TapuTapu virtual-line wristband system was discontinued park-wide on October 1, 2025; the park now runs on standard first-come, first-served standby lines, so plan to queue physically for this slide.
- Ride early in the day — this is one of the park's most popular thrill slides and the single-rider trap-door format means throughput is slower than multi-person rafts, so lines build quickly by mid-morning.
- Riders must weigh under 300 lb (136 kg) and be 48 in. (122 cm) or taller; expect a brief, intense vertical-feeling drop rather than a long ride.
- For a similar but slightly gentler near-vertical drop experience, compare it to raft-based thrill slides — but Ko'okiri remains Volcano Bay's steepest, most extreme single-rider slide.
