Men in Black Alien Attack
The Attraction Overview
Men in Black Alien Attack puts riders behind laser blasters aboard spinning six-passenger cars, tasking them with shooting as many animatronic aliens as possible while racing through a mock New York City under invasion. Scores are tracked per rider, turning it into a genuine competition among car-mates.
The ride's defining twist is its spinning vehicles — hidden triggers let the aliens spin your car if you miss too many shots, and the finale features a giant animatronic 'Bug' alien that can send the whole car into an out-of-control spin for a dramatically different ending each time.
The Story
The attraction opened on April 14, 2000, in the World Expo area, based on the Men in Black film franchise. At the time it debuted, it was the largest dark ride Universal had ever built, with more than 100 animatronic figures across a 70,000-square-foot soundstage.
Before the Clock Strikes
- A single-rider line is available and moves quickly since the vehicles seat riders individually around a spinning car.
- Aim for the aliens' glowing eyes and mouths for the highest point values — score chasers should keep firing even during the finale.
- This is one of the more replayable rides in the park since the ending can vary based on group performance, making it worth a second lap.
- If you like interactive shooter-style dark rides, pair this with Villain-Con Minion Blast for a fun back-to-back comparison of two very different takes on the format.
