Punga Racers

The Attraction Overview

Punga Racers is a four-lane body slide where guests race head-first, side-by-side to the finish line down a set of ProSlide Twister racer flumes. It's one of the more competitive, family-friendly thrill slides in the park.

The slide originally opened as a mat-racer experience, with mats shaped like manta rays; it was reconfigured in July 2020 into a standard head-first body slide ending in a shared splash pool run-off.

The Story

Punga Racers opened with Volcano Bay on May 25, 2017, and was modified from its original mat-slide format to a body-slide format in July 2020.

Before the Clock Strikes

  • Standby lines apply here as at all Volcano Bay slides since TapuTapu was discontinued October 1, 2025 — racing slides tend to move quickly since four lanes load at once.
  • Minimum height is 42 in. (107 cm) with a 300 lb (136 kg) weight limit per rider; double riders are not permitted, and guests under 48 in. (122 cm) need a companion riding in an adjacent lane.
  • Gather your whole group before getting in line so you can race together — the four-lane format is built for head-to-head competition.
  • It's a shorter, faster experience than the park's raft slides, so treat it as a quick-hit thrill between longer attractions rather than a centerpiece stop.
