Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The Attraction Overview

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a family-friendly steel coaster themed to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, sending riders through the diamond mine where Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey work. Its signature feature is a patented vehicle system that lets the mine cars sway side-to-side independently of the track on curves, mimicking the unstable feel of a real mine cart — a first among Disney coasters.

The outdoor circuit winds past sparkling gem effects before dipping into a show building for a slower indoor finale, where Audio-Animatronics figures of the dwarfs perform their 'Heigh-Ho' routine. Topping out around 34 mph with no inversions, it's built as a gentle, approachable introduction to coasters.

The Story

The ride opened May 28, 2014, as the centerpiece of the New Fantasyland expansion (2010–2014). It effectively replaced Snow White's Scary Adventures, which closed in 2012 — several of that dark ride's Audio-Animatronics figures, including the yodeling dwarfs, were refurbished and reused in the Mine Train's final scene.

Disney Imagineering developed the ride with coaster manufacturer Vekoma, and the swaying-vehicle system built for this ride was later reused for Shanghai Disneyland's version, which opened in 2016.

Before the Clock Strikes

  • Ride at rope drop or via Lightning Lane — it remains one of the most popular attractions in Magic Kingdom.
  • Magic Kingdom doesn't offer single-rider lines at any attraction, including this one.
  • Cars seat pairs only, with no center row, so solo riders or odd-numbered groups may be split up — plan seating expectations accordingly.
  • Loose items aren't as strictly regulated as on launch coasters, but hats and small items can still fall — secure belongings before boarding.
