The Attraction Overview
The Simpsons Ride sends guests through the fictional Krustyland amusement park aboard a runaway roller coaster, courtesy of Sideshow Bob's revenge plot, using domed high-frame-rate screens and motion-simulator bases rather than a physical track. The attraction is packed with the show's trademark humor, guest voice cameos, and rapid-fire visual gags.
Its distinguishing feature is the sheer density of jokes and cutaways layered into the ride film, rewarding repeat visits since it's genuinely difficult to catch every gag in a single ride.
The Story
The Simpsons Ride opened on May 15, 2008, replacing the long-running Back to the Future: The Ride in the same building, with Comic Book Guy wearing Marty McFly's jacket as a knowing nod to its predecessor. It sits within the larger Springfield: Home of the Simpsons area that later expanded around it.
Before the Clock Strikes
- Check with a team member for single-rider availability — it runs intermittently rather than being open at all times.
- The wraparound dome screens and simulator motion can be intense for motion-sickness-prone riders; a stationary, non-motion viewing option exists for those who want to skip the simulator base.
- Lines tend to dip during parade times or mid-afternoon meal rushes elsewhere in the park.
- Fans of screen-based comedic simulators should also try Race Through New York for a similar tone with a different franchise.
