Tiana's Bayou Adventure
The Attraction Overview
Tiana's Bayou Adventure is a log flume through the Louisiana bayou, picking up right after the end of Disney's The Princess and the Frog. Tiana, Louis, and Naveen are throwing a Mardi Gras celebration in Tiana's honor, and riders float along an outdoor bayou stretch before heading indoors for a dark-ride segment packed with dozens of Audio-Animatronics figures, including three separate bands of musical critters.
The ride builds to a 52.5-foot plunge before a colorful, celebratory finale — a deliberately different tone from the villain's-lair climax of the attraction it replaced, closer in spirit to a bayou block party than a horror-tinged chase.
The Story
The attraction opened June 28, 2024, replacing Splash Mountain. Disney announced the retheme in 2020 amid renewed criticism of Splash Mountain's basis in Song of the South, a 1946 film Disney itself has kept out of circulation for decades over its depiction of the antebellum South. The new attraction rebuilds the space around The Princess and the Frog instead, Disney's first film with a Black princess.
Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley, and Jenifer Lewis all reprise their original film roles for the ride's animatronics and audio. A twin version opened at Disneyland the same year, and at Magic Kingdom the ride sits in Tier 1 of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system.
Before the Clock Strikes
- This is one of Magic Kingdom's newest headliners, so waits run long most of the day — ride during Early Park Admission or via Lightning Lane.
- You will get wet, especially in the front row during the big drop — a poncho or dry bag for phones/cameras is worth carrying.
- Magic Kingdom doesn't offer single-rider lines at any attraction, including this one.
- The queue winds through detailed bayou-shack theming worth taking in rather than rushing past, especially if you're waiting during a busy period anyway.
