Transformers: The Ride 3D

The Attraction Overview

Transformers: The Ride 3D straps riders into military-style vehicles that get caught in the crossfire of an Autobots-versus-Decepticons battle over the AllSpark, combining trackless ride vehicle motion with massive 3D screens for a fully enveloping sense of speed and scale. The scale of the projected Transformers characters towering overhead is a big part of the spectacle.

Its standout feature is the seamless blend of physical vehicle movement with the 3D footage — drops, tilts, and sudden accelerations are timed to the screen action so convincingly that many riders come away unsure which parts were real motion and which were the film.

The Story

The ride opened on June 20, 2013, in Production Central, using the same simulator technology platform pioneered by Universal Studios Japan's earlier version of the attraction. It remains one of the park's most consistently popular rides for its intensity and visual scale.

Before the Clock Strikes

  • A single-rider line and Express Pass access are both available, making it one of the easier headliners to ride multiple times in a day.
  • 3D glasses are required and are handed out just before boarding — riders with glasses can wear the 3D pair over their own.
  • The combination of screen motion and physical movement can trigger motion sickness in sensitive riders more than some of the park's other simulators.
  • If you enjoyed Race Through New York's blend of simulator motion and screen-based action, this ride offers a more intense, action-driven version of that same format.
