An oversized, deliberately underbaked chocolate chip cookie with a crisp edge and a soft, almost molten center. Finished with flaky salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Method

  1. Cream the butter with both sugars until fluffy, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  2. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, then mix in gradually.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop generous, oversized mounds onto a baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers still look soft.
  5. Sprinkle with flaky salt right out of the oven.
