Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The Resort Overview

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is Walt Disney World's flagship luxury hotel, styled after the grand Victorian beach resorts of late-19th-century Florida — white latticework, red shingled roofs, and wraparound verandas evoking Henry Flagler's era of Gilded Age tourism. The five-story main lobby is anchored by an enormous birdcage-style chandelier and a live pianist performing on a mezzanine overlooking the atrium.

Spread across six guest buildings, the property leans hard into old-world formality: monogrammed bathrobes, a full-service spa, and Victoria & Albert's, Walt Disney World's only AAA Five-Diamond restaurant. It's the only Magic Kingdom Resort Area hotel marketed explicitly as a luxury/spa destination rather than primarily a themed family resort.

Dining & Amenities

Victoria & Albert's is an intimate, prix-fixe fine-dining room with a AAA Five-Diamond rating and a strict dress code — widely considered the pinnacle of Disney dining. 1900 Park Fare is the resort's character buffet, and Narcoossee's offers waterfront steak and seafood with Magic Kingdom fireworks views from its dock-side dining room.

Beyond the Beach Pool and quieter Courtyard Pool, the resort houses Senses Spa, tennis courts, a marina with boat rentals, and direct boat access to Magic Kingdom — positioning the resort toward relaxation and pampering rather than high-energy family activity.

Booking Strategy

  • Request a Theme Park View room in the Sugar Loaf Key building for Magic Kingdom fireworks views, or a Lagoon View room for water views without the top price premium.
  • The monorail and boats connect to Magic Kingdom directly, but there's no direct link to Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom — budget bus time for those.
  • Best fit for couples, honeymooners, and guests wanting a quieter, upscale atmosphere; families chasing high-energy theming may prefer the Polynesian instead.
  • Book Victoria & Albert's and 1900 Park Fare well ahead — both are consistently among the hardest reservations at Walt Disney World.
