The Resort Overview
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort transports guests to a lush, South Pacific-themed escape built around the Great Ceremonial House, a soaring A-frame lobby modeled after a Tahitian royal assembly hall, filled with tropical plants, koi ponds, and cascading waterfalls. Opened in 1971 as one of the resort's two original hotels, guest rooms spread across a cluster of multi-story "Longhouses" named for Pacific islands rather than conventional building numbers.
The tiki-and-tropical aesthetic extends outdoors into torch-lit walkways, a white-sand beach with unobstructed Magic Kingdom fireworks views, and the volcanic Lava Pool as its visual centerpiece — consistently ranking among the most requested and beloved Deluxe resorts on property.
Dining & Amenities
'Ohana serves a family-style, all-you-care-to-eat feast of skewered meats plus a beloved Lilo & Stitch character breakfast — both among the toughest reservations at Walt Disney World. Kona Cafe offers a more relaxed all-day menu (its Tonga Toast is a cult favorite), while Trader Sam's Grog Grotto delivers a theatrical tiki-bar experience with hidden effects.
Recreation centers on the Lava Pool, complete with volcano and waterslide, plus a white-sand beach and nightly views of Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant. A genuinely famous pool, a walkable beach, and top-tier theming make this one of the strongest resort-as-destination experiences at Walt Disney World.

Booking Strategy
- Request a Magic Kingdom-view room (best in the Hawaii, Tonga, or Samoa longhouses) for fireworks views without leaving your room.
- Monorail and boat access make Magic Kingdom trips fast and frequent — good for popping back to the resort midday for pool breaks.
- Best fit for families wanting immersive tropical theming plus a legitimately great pool; less ideal for guests wanting quiet, formal elegance (try Grand Floridian instead).
- Book 'Ohana, especially the character breakfast, as early as your 60-day window opens — it sells out almost immediately.
