Walt Disney World Dolphin

The Resort Overview

Important distinction: like its sister hotel the Swan, the Walt Disney World Dolphin is owned and operated by Marriott, not Disney. Opened in June 1990, it's also a Michael Graves design, identifiable by its dramatic triangular tower and two giant dolphin statues flanking the entrance.

As the larger of the two sister hotels, the Dolphin has a bigger, more bustling lobby and more convention traffic than the Swan, giving it a livelier feel while sharing the same Grotto Pool complex and park access.

Dining & Amenities

The Dolphin's dining anchor is Todd English's bluezoo, an acclaimed seafood restaurant with a market-driven, frequently changing menu. Rosa Mexicano serves modern Mexican fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Dolphin's Cabana Bar sits poolside with an upscale lounge feel, steps from the shared three-acre Grotto Pool with its waterslide and waterfalls — a perennial fan favorite.

Booking Strategy

  • Like the Swan, the Dolphin is a Marriott property bookable with Bonvoy points — check current benefits before assuming Disney perks apply by default.
  • Choose the Dolphin over the Swan if you want a bigger, more energetic lobby scene and don't mind more convention traffic.
  • The walk to EPCOT's International Gateway or Hollywood Studios runs about 10-15 minutes, with Friendship Boats as a relaxing alternative.
  • Bluezoo and Il Mulino are among the most acclaimed restaurants on Disney property; book dining reservations well in advance.
