Walt Disney World Swan

The Resort Overview

Important distinction: the Walt Disney World Swan is owned and operated by Marriott, not by Disney — though it sits on Disney property, is bookable as a Disney resort, and gives guests access to Disney's transportation network. Opened in January 1990, it was designed by postmodern architect Michael Graves, whose bold geometric forms give the hotel two giant swan statues perched atop its roof.

The Swan shares its Grotto Pool complex, convention space, and much of its dining with its sister hotel, the Dolphin, just across the Crescent Lake causeway, but has its own quieter lobby and guest room towers.

Dining & Amenities

Il Mulino New York Trattoria serves traditional Italian dinners in a rustic dining room, with Kimonos, a sushi bar known for nightly karaoke, and Garden Grove offering American breakfast and lunch fare.

The Swan and Dolphin share a three-acre Grotto Pool complex with a waterslide, waterfall grotto, rock caves, and multiple hot tubs — regularly ranked among the best pools at Walt Disney World.

Booking Strategy

  • Remember this is a Marriott property (bookable with Marriott Bonvoy points) — factor that into how you're paying before you book.
  • The Swan tends to feel quieter and more adult-oriented than the Dolphin, which hosts larger conventions and has a busier lobby.
  • Walking to EPCOT's International Gateway or Hollywood Studios takes roughly 10-15 minutes, and Friendship Boats also connect to both parks.
  • Because the Swan isn't Disney-owned, some Disney-specific perks aren't automatically included — double-check current benefits when booking.
