Universal's Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn & Suites

The Hotel Overview

Dockside Inn & Suites opened December 15, 2020, following a pandemic-related delay, as the larger second half of the Endless Summer Resort complex. It's themed as a coastal retreat, a slightly more grounded, dockside counterpart to Surfside's surf-shop energy, with a much bigger footprint and considerably more rooms.

Its defining advantage over Surfside is scale: more dining variety, more pool space, and a dedicated kids' splash pad, making it the pick for larger families or groups who want more on-site amenities without leaving the Value tier.

Dining & Amenities

Dockside's main food court, Pier 8 Market, offers a wider spread of quick-service options than Surfside's single café. Poolside dining and drinks come from two bars, Wave Makers and The Oasis, while the lobby's Sunset Lounge provides a relaxed spot for evening drinks.

Dockside has two pools rather than one, giving guests more room to spread out, plus a splash pad for younger children. Reviewers generally rate the pools as a solid step up in variety from Surfside, though both properties share the same modest depth (around four feet) typical of Universal's value hotels.

Booking Strategy

  • Pick Dockside over Surfside if you want more dining choices and pool options — the two-pool, splash-pad setup is better suited to larger families or groups who want to spread out.
  • Dockside is considerably larger than Surfside, so expect more guests overall and a livelier, busier atmosphere around the pools and food court.
  • Compared to Cabana Bay, Dockside is the more affordable choice but trades away the lazy river and bowling alley — a fair trade for travelers prioritizing price over extra amenities.
  • As with Surfside, the shuttle is the practical way to reach the parks; walking requires crossing I-4 on a pedestrian overpass, which isn't ideal with strollers or young kids.
